SMP Rise offers paid apprenticeships on micro-productions: short films, music videos, stage productions, podcasts, and short-form documentaries to provide work experience within the entertainment industry.
We are here for those whose lives have been affected by poverty, inequity, and lack of opportunity in our society. Those who have foundation/skills training with a certificate of completion or have worked in entry-level (non-union) positions in feature films, commercials, and TV for at least one year are eligible. We are here for those whose lives have been affected by poverty, inequity, and lack of opportunity in our society. SMP Rise does require some level of experience in the industry. We are here to bridge entry level workforce development programs and offer a ladder to the next level for those those who: have foundation skills /training, those with a certificate of completion or have worked in entry-level (non-union) positions in feature films, commercials, and TV . PLEASE APPLY FOR APPRENTICESHIP THEN WE CAN DETERMINE WHERE YOU NEED TO BEGIN YOUR RISE. If you currently need foundation training and/or more entry level work experience, contact SMP Rise to connect you with one of the adjacent organizations to get you on the path to RISE. Our participants pay ZERO dollars to continue their RISE in the industry.
SMP Rise does not claim ownership of any project submitted and completed within the cohorts. These projects become tools for the Rising artist and technicians. No member of the organization (officers, directors, or board members) receive credit on productions other than: "THIS PROJECT MADE POSSIBLE BY SMP RISE and THE GENEROSITY OF OUR DONORS." write to alonzo@smprise.org for more details.
SMP Rise Fiscal sponsorship is a formal arrangement in which our organization offers our legal and tax-exempt status to a project or initiative that aligns with our mission and values. This arrangement is particularly beneficial for film projects that may not have their own nonprofit status but need to access certain financial benefits.
